Yes :) Don't forget that they have been using the 4L series alot longer than us over there also 90% of our performance parts for those boxes come from over there :)

I am liking the look of the mad dog 4l60s from the states see what the freight price will be. He even has 4l80s for a bit more.

Am sorry, but I wouldn't touch them for that price! I've spoken to Mal Wood and you need to spend around $7000 on one to make it handle 800HP! Your choice but I'd say you're just throwing your money away!
Stay with something that's proven
My opinion only

Well scotty each to their own opinion i guess. The reasons i am leaning towards one of those boxes is: 1. Would be great to have 4 gears. 2. For the drags as a bracket racer would be better to have electronic shift. No inconsistincies from me. 3. I am only going to be pushing around 400 to 500 rwhp. 4. If it only costs 2 to 3g it is not that great a loss or cost in my opinion, could be worth it you never know till you try. 5. After talking to a few people there is a bit of belief that a 4l60 can handle this sort of power if built correctly and the yanks are the ones to do it.
I would prefer to buy from the states something that they believe will cope with the power rather than buy from interstate for a lot more cost and still bugger all warranty or support. I have other cars i can drive if the box fails and will only be a small loss in the bigger picture. I want to be someone in the nt who can run good times and not just talk about power figures. But after saying all that if i look into it further and dont like or am going to get ripped on frieght i wont do it.

Have you actually rung and spoken to Maddog mate give him a call ok you will be very surprised with the warranty ok I have a mate getting 1 of his boxes soon and maddog said if it shits itself he will pay the costs of freight back to the US and also the costs of an other box back to you :) Othyerwise I would try and get a built box locally not from interstate the Box in Kays car has shat itself and is only 30k old and probably a doz passes and thats dfrom a reputable shop in QLD yes it is a builyt box have receipts here for 3grand poxy buxket of crap like alot of the crap that comes outa QLD
